Short visits to Australia

Australia eVisitor 651

Check whether eVisitor 651 fits your passport and visit, then review the requirements and service fees before starting your application.

An eVisitor (subclass 651) lets eligible European passport holders visit Australia for tourism or certain business activities. It normally allows multiple visits over 12 months, with up to 3 months in Australia per visit, subject to the conditions on your grant.

Apply from outside Australia using an eligible passport. eVisa Immigration provides an optional private service with guided questions, passport entry assistance, document uploads and application review. Our service fee is €60 per traveller. The Australian Government does not charge an eVisitor application fee, and you can apply directly through Home Affairs.

Check that this route fits your trip

You need a passport from an eligible European country and must meet Home Affairs requirements, including health and character requirements. An eligible nationality alone does not establish eligibility. British National Overseas and other excluded passport types do not qualify for eVisitor.

You must intend to visit temporarily and have enough funds for your stay and departure. Check the official eligibility rules if your circumstances are complicated or you have previous immigration issues.

What you can do during your visit

You can visit family or friends, take a holiday and undertake permitted business visitor activities, such as making business enquiries or attending a conference. You may study or train for up to 3 months in permitted circumstances.

You cannot work for an Australian business or provide services to it, or sell goods or services to the public. A business visit is not permission to take employment in Australia.

Processing and application updates

Government processing times vary. Allow time before you travel and check current Home Affairs guidance. A stated service handling time would not be a government decision time.

Check current government processing guidance

Your eVisa Immigration account shows recorded service progress and any updates available for your application. It is not a universal live connection to government systems. A submission receipt or decision notice is the evidence of a government submission or decision.

Practical questions

Does each traveller need an application?

Yes. Each person needs their own eVisitor, including children. Complete each traveller’s details and check their eligibility separately.

Is the government application free?

Yes. Home Affairs does not charge an eVisitor 651 application fee. Our optional private service has a separate fee.

Do I need six months of bank statements?

Not every applicant does. Provide financial evidence when applicable or requested, and follow the specific request for the period needed.

What if I get a new passport?

Your eVisitor is linked to your passport. Check Home Affairs instructions before travelling with a replacement passport; a saved travel profile does not transfer your visa.

How long will the government decision take?

Government processing varies and further information may be requested. Check current government processing guidance before making travel plans.

eVisa Immigration is an independent private service. Home Affairs sets visa requirements and makes visa decisions. Check the official guidance and the conditions on your grant.
